What to expect during a session:

After a thorough intake to get an evaluation of history, you will be guided to lie on the massage table underneath the draping. Your chest will be covered and your abdomen and belly will be undraped. Oil is applied and various massage massage techniques are performed to soften tissue restrictions, aid in digestion, and to assess the position of the pelvis. After the front of your body is massaged, the therapist will have you lie on your stomach, while the posterior treatment continues on your low back, hips, and glutes. 

People feel more relaxed, calm, and emotionally centered and balanced during and after a treatment. Many report improved digestion, less bloating, less discomfort with uterine and ovarian issues, and overall improved sense of self and well-being.

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that uses light pressure to induce stillpoints along the head, neck, and along the spine to redirect the flow of cerebrospinal fluid to areas of the body that need it. It releases tensions deep in the body to relieve discomfort and dysfunction. Many people report feeling much lighter and more spacious in their bodies, with less tension and looser muscles. Folks with chronic illness experience less flare-ups when receiving craniosacral therapy regularly. It is a beneficial modality to receive for those undergoing chemotherapy or cancer treatments.

Reiki is a Japanese healing practice that involves the transfer of energy through gentle touch or by hovering hands over the body. Reiki is often sought to:

It is complementary to conventional medical treatments rather than a replacement.

What does a Reiki treatment look like?

The session typically takes place in a quiet, comfortable setting.

You remain fully clothed and lie down on a massage table. The Reiki practitioner begins by lightly placing their hands on or just above specific areas of your body, such as the head, shoulders, torso, and limbs. They use a series of hand positions, staying in each position for several minutes.

You might feel warmth, tingling, or a sense of deep relaxation during the process. A session usually lasts minutes, but may vary. 

After the Treatment, many people feel calm, energized, or even emotional afterward. Some report a sense of lightness, clarity, or reduced physical discomfort.

The Chakras and Reiki

Reiki and the chakra system are closely connected, as both involve the flow of energy within the body. The chakra system, originating from ancient Indian traditions, consists of seven main energy centers aligned along the spine, each associated with specific physical, emotional, and spiritual functions. Chronic pain and long term health imbalances that don't respond well to medical treatments are often a result of unresolved trauma.  Traumatic events occur in a person's life, and they may not be equipped with the skills or tools at the time to work through the full impact that the incident had on them. Emotions and energies get stuck and trapped in the body and can be an underlying contributing factor to complicated issues in the tissues. 

Numerous modalities, including craniosacral therapy, Maya Abdominal Therapy, somatic experiencing, and EFT, can be incorporated into sessions to help balance and regulate the vagus nerve, thus calming the body, depending on what is called for at the time. There will also be suggestions for various self-care tools and tips that you can do in between sessions to help work through challenging situations, so you can feel empowered in times of stress.
